Dr. Laura Cannaday graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine. After graduation, Dr. Cannaday returned to Chicago to work in a private outpatient orthopaedic manual therapy clinic. She earned her Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine in 2004. Wanting to further her clinical expertise, Dr. Cannaday completed the University of St. Augustine Manual Therapy Fellowship Program. She was fortunate to receive mentorship from Dr. Kenneth Olson and Dr. Catherine Patla in the area of orthopaedics with emphasis on spinal dysfunction. In 2006, Dr. Cannaday became a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Dr. Cannaday served as a part-time faculty member at Northern Illinois University teaching in the musculoskeletal physical therapy curriculum in 2005. She has served as a lab assistant for several manual physical therapy courses. In 2007, Dr. Cannaday decided to combine her love of learning and passion for teaching as a faculty member in the University of St. Augustine's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
Dr. Cannaday is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Augustine at San Diego. Her teaching responsibilities are in the Musculoskeletal Courses. She continues to practice in an outpatient orthopedic clinic to supplement her teaching. Her research interests are in the reliability, validity, and effectiveness of manual physical therapy procedures. Dr. Cannaday is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
