S3-Advanced Evaluation & Manipulation of Cranio-Facial,
Cervical & Upper Thoracic Spine

Registration Information

This advanced spinal seminar begins with a brief review & update of anatomy, mechanics and pathology of dysfunction. The techniques in the S1 seminar are reviewed, and additional techniques, particularly those requiring a higher level of skill and decision-making, are added. Special emphasis will be placed on the subcranial and mid cervical regions. Lectures and evaluation techniques will assist with the evaluation and treatment of cervical dysfunction including disc degeneration, spondylosis and myelopathy.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this seminar the therapist will be able to:

  • conduct a comprehensive physical examination of the head, neck and upper thoracic regions
  • discuss the mechanism and characteristics of headache, neck and shoulder pain and the related patient behavior
  • perform manipulations to the neck and upper thoracic spine, as well as mobilizations to the cranium
  • discuss and present cases with spinal dysfunction
  • describe the indication and contraindications of spinal manipulation
  • discuss the role of therapeutic exercise and preventative measures in the management of spinal dysfunction, especially with regard to posture
