2008 INFOSESSIONS IN CALIFORNIA

San Diego Expansion DPT Program

The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is pleased to announce the expansion Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in San Diego California has been approved by both the California Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Schools and the Commission for Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education. 
           
The campus is located at 16870 W. Bernardo Drive, Suite 200 in Rancho Bernardo.

We wish to thank the members of the San Diego physical therapy community and university faculty members for their support of the program.  We look forward to providing quality physical therapy education on the west coast.

The highlights of this entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program are:

  • The DPT degree takes seven trimesters (or 2 years and 4 months) to complete.  It is an intensive program of 18-21 credits per term including foundational medical science and physical therapy clinical courses.  Click here for the program's curriculum.
  • Students complete 23 weeks of full-time internship where they are off-campus for 1.5 semesters.   
  • Courses are delivered as lecture in traditional classrooms, lecture and laboratories, or online methods.
  • We will have two enrollment groups in the first year (Fall 2007 and Spring 2008) and three new enrollment groups the following academic year (Fall 2008, Spring 2009 and Summer 2009.
  • Tuition for the DPT program is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students.

Dr. Wanda Nitsch, a faculty member and administrator in St. Augustine, is the DPT program director. Ms. Anna Ewards, a long-time physical therapist in the San Diego area is the Director of Clincal Education. Three additional faculty are stared in the Fall of 2007: Edward Kane, PT, PhD, ECS, SCS, ATC, Annie Burke-Doe, PT, PhD, and Ellen Lowe, PT, PhD. We anticipate hiring approximately 8 more full-time faculty over the next two years, 2-4 part-time adjunct faculty, and several local clincians as lab instructors.
