Tamara Eichelberger

Dr. Tamara Eichelberger earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 1998 and began practicing in acute and sub-acute care, as well as neurologic rehabilitation in her home state of Iowa.  She returned to school and earned a PhD in Physical Rehabilitation Science with an emphasis in neuromuscular physiology from the University of Iowa and held teaching assistantships there while obtaining her PhD.  She then moved to California to practice primarily in the home health care setting, as well as acute, sub-acute and SNF settings. She has served as an adjunct assistant professor at Samuel Merritt University and at Ohlone College.  She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  Additionally, she has presented research at both national (American Physical Therapy Association, Society for Neuroscience) and international levels (International Society for Electrophysiology and Kinesiology). 

Dr. Eichelberger is currently a full time associate professor with The University of St. Augustine in San Diego and teaches clinical neuroscience and neuromuscular courses.  Her primary clinical interests lie in treating patients with Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.  Her research interests include balance and fall prevention as well as strength training and motor function recovery for patients following neurological injury.  She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the International Society for Electrophysiology and Kinesiology.
