Judith Olson

Judith Olson

Dr. Olson joined the University of St. Augustine Institute of Occupational Therapy as the Program Director for the additional location campus of the Master of Occupational Therapy Program in San Diego, CA. She is a graduate of the Columbia University MOT Program and received her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

Dr. Olson began her career at Harlem Hospital in New York City where she was a senior therapist. She began her academic career at Cleveland State University teaching adult physical disabilities content and serving as the academic fieldwork coordinator. Dr. Olson and family moved to Oklahoma where she took a position as the manager of the Occupational Therapy Program at the Children's Hospital. After several years, Dr. Olson interrupted her career for a sabbatical on early childhood development as she left paid employment to raise her own family of four children.

Dr. Olson returned to academia after her family moved to Ann Arbor, MI. She taught at Eastern Michigan University where she remained for 17 years. She was a full professor and program director there for the last four years. During that time, she co-edited a book on mothering occupations, was a journal reviewer for several occupational therapy related journals, and became the secretary for the Society for the Study of Occupation: USA which she continues to do. She is currently a reviewer for Occupational Therapy in Home Health. She will be teaching the introductory course for the USA MOT Program and some of the pediatric content courses.
