Admission Requirements and Tuition

MOPA Admissions Criteria
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.  You can apply while still enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or while you are completing prerequisite coursework.

• An official GRE score report sent directly to the University from ETS.  The test must have been taken within the last five (5) years.  A combined minimum GRE score of 294 (new version) or 1,000 (old version) for the verbal and quantitative sections is recommended. The University’s GRE Institutional Code Number is 5325.

• Required prerequisite coursework:  For all prerequisite course work completed five (5) years prior to application, you may be required to demonstrate competency through completion of subsequent academic course work, appropriate standardized testing or life experiences.  The required prerequisites are as follows (substitutes will be considered):

(from among: psychology, sociology, anthropology, human growth and development)

• A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 calculated on program prerequisites is preferred; however, the grade trend of the applicant will be considered.

• Four (4) references from the following:  two medical professionals, one faculty member or faculty advisor, one person of your choice.  Reference checklists must be submitted to the University in sealed envelopes, and can be sent directly by the person submitting the reference.

Volunteer/Observation Experience
You are strongly encouraged to gain experience and/or observation hours in the health care field particularly with orthopaedic physicians, orthopaedic physician assistants and/or physician assistants to ensure you fully understand the profession you have chosen to pursue.  You should document any such experiences as part of your application. 

Priority due dates for submitting applications are as follows:

*Applications received after these dates will be considered on a space-available basis.

The Student Services staff reviews all applications and sup-porting documentation upon receipt.  We will notify you via email of the status of your file.  Qualified applicants will receive an invitation to participate in an informational exchange and interview session in St. Augustine.  These personal interviews provide additional information to the Admissions Committee to determine the final admission status of these applicants.

Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the Orthopaedic Physician Assistant program has been set at $6,300 per term. Tuition is expected to increase annually, as is the practice of most educational institutions. Additional costs including textbooks, lab fees, other miscellaneous fees, professional association dues, lab coats, etc, are expected to be approximately $5,000 - $7,000 for the total program.

Students must provide their own health insurance.
