April 22-24 Dr. Chaconas accompanied 8 students (Garrett Mandel, Elena Madueno, Lindsay McDonald, Joy Frye, Erin Martino, Amanda Weekes, Kristin Horne, and Veronica Houghton) in Washington, DC for APTA's Federal Advocacy Forum.
The conference included lectures on alternative payment systems, education on the three bills we were supporting (repeal of Medicare cap, student loan forgiveness through NHSC, and Traumatic Brain Injury Reauthorization), and a quick look at what's down the line with direct access.
The final day was spent at the Capitol meeting with Congressmen and/or their Legislative Assistants educating them on our bills, our unique skill set, and thanking them for their support.
