Dear University Community,
Welcome to our upgraded Accolades magazine. This edition offers an interesting look into the lives of our graduates and the successes they have achieved in their fields. It also highlights some of the fabulous service learning projects our faculty and students are involved in. We also hear from contributing faculty member Dr. Robb Rehberg, who is teaching in our newest post-professional degree program, the Master of Health Science in Athletic Training.
I am proud to report that progress toward opening a fourth campus is proceeding as expected. That’s right, we are working on all of the regulatory and accreditation requirements to bring our first-professional physical and occupational therapy programs to a new area—Miami, Florida. As recognized several years ago by Dr. Stanley Paris, our founder and chancellor, it is imperative to improve ethnic diversity among occupational and physical therapy practitioners. The best way to achieve this is to start a program in an area with a large, diverse population. At this point, we have a temporary campus location, a program director, faculty, and the beginning of our support staff. The next step is student recruiting, and once we receive final accreditor approval, we will start courses.
On the Move, the new name for the first section of this magazine, is appropriate for what the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences represents. As with the focus of our dynamic professions and the changing world of health care, we are an agile and enthusiastic institution that never stays the same. We are on the move!
