Mario Butler Foundation Football and Cheerleading Camp Volunteers
In early June, several students volunteered with professor Tobi Baldwin and her husband, who is a USAHS alumni, at the Mario Butler Foundation Football and Cheerleading camp. They provided sports medicine coverage and ensured proper hydration for all of the kids in attendance. Mario Butler Foundation is run by Mario Butler, a former NFL player with the Buffalo Bills. The annual camp gives children in lower socioeconomic areas of Jacksonville, FL the opportunity to train with former college and professional football players.

Students Gain Hands-On Experience at Arc of Putnam County
USAHS FLSA has partnered with the Arc of Putnam County again this term. The students have done incredible things during three separate visits.
The students have successfully taught one client how to meal prep. Before the students worked with her, she had never made her own meal. She can now make her own microwaveable meal! She was crying with joy on that third session. It was heart warming.
The clients all know now when the students are coming and get so excited for “life classes.” The students have the opportunity to learn how to alter their planned activity on the spot depending on the client. It’s wonderful preparation for fieldwork and real life.
We also have plans to help create a sensory room, hydration station, modify the kitchen to allow more clients’ independence with meal preparation, and design or redesign areas in the facility to help the staff successful care for these individuals.
