With pandemic-related campus closures all over the world, 2020 was a challenging year for universities and their students. But with our robust virtual modalities already in place, USAHS was able to quickly pivot to transform our teaching and learning and meet the needs of the moment.
Faculty got creative with virtual learning, adding innovations like gaming technology, virtual escape rooms, and 360-degree virtual clinical environments. Students got a chance to practice telehealth with real patients. And students who needed in-person clinical hours for graduation were able to get them safely, wearing PPE in our simulation centers and in fieldwork settings.
Despite the hurdles, it was a year of successes for us. We managed to graduate more students than ever before, hire more faculty and staff, and expand to new buildings. New programs got accredited or became candidates for accreditation, and faculty won awards.
