Dr. Aguilar received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) in 1995 and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree with a specialty in pediatrics from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professional in Provo, UT in 2010. She is certified in Sensory Integration through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services.
Though Dr. Aguilar has specialized in pediatrics, she has also enjoyed working in other settings throughout her career including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, home health, skilled nursing, and school based therapy. She acted as a pediatric clinical director for many years. As a school therapist, at Northeast Independence School District in San Antonio, Texas, she helped initiate a multidisciplinary autism team that supported children and their educators throughout the district. Most recently Dr. Aguilar worked at the Autism Community Network in San Antonio where she was on the diagnostic team and was a member of the education and research department. There she taught CEU courses to teachers, therapist, and other professionals and developed a parent education program to help with sensory, feeding, and behavior issues often seen in children with Autism. She acted as adjunct instructor in for Pediatric Interventions at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 2014.
