Jennifer Cates is the director of physician assistant clinical education for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program where she also teaches as instructional faculty. Jennifer has more than 25 years of experience in family medicine and primary care health, and she practices clinically one day a week at a local family practice.
As a clinician, Jennifer enjoyed precepting and mentoring physician assistant students. This led to a keen desire to transition to full-time teaching in physician assistant education in 2016. In addition, she has experience managing and coordinating the physician assistant student clinical year.
Jennifer is an active member in CAPA (California Academy of Physician Assistants), AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants), SDSPA (San Diego Society of Physician Assistants), and PAEA (Physician Assistant Education Association).
