Kurt has 28 years experience in health care leadership. He has worked in multiple hospitals and health care systems, from small, rural hospitals to serving as the Chief Operating Officer at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC), a 541-bed teaching hospital and a level 1-trauma center. He currently serves as UMC’s Chief Human Resources Officer, assuming that role in September 2018.
Kurt began his health care career in the United States Navy, serving for 23 years as an officer in the Medical Service Corps, retiring from active duty at the rank of Captain in 2015. While in the Navy, Kurt served in a variety of health care field and headquarters positions, including in 5 hospitals and various staff tours at Navy and Navy Medicine Headquarters, where he prepared input to the President’s Budget for Navy and DoD.
Kurt has been an active member in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and a Fellow since 1996. He is a former ACHE Regent (2010 – 2013) and served on the National Capital Chapter Board of ACHE from 2011 – 2013.
