Dr. Rene’ Wren has been a clinical instructor in the Occupational Therapy program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Science’s Austin campus since May 2019. Prior to joining the university, she was a visiting professor in the School of Occupational Therapy, Texas Women’s University (TWU) Dallas and Denton campuses. She was also an adjunct professor at University of Texas in Tyler, School of Nursing, teaching a graduate on-line research course. Additionally, Dr. Wren has worked as a consultant for University of Texas at Tyler to assist in the development of the OT bridge program and Brightwood College in Dallas with the initial ACOTE accreditation of the OTA program.
Prior to entering the field of academia, Dr. Wren worked as an occupational therapist primarily in the skilled nursing facility (SNF) and home health (HH) settings. Dr. Wren is American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Board Certified in Gerontology and has worked extensively with the older adult population. She is a certified LSVT-BIG clinician working with patients with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions that affect movement and function. She is also a Dementia Capable Care Certified specialist.
Dr. Wren has been an active member in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Texas Occupational Therapy Association (TOTA).
Dr. Wren has published in the peer-reviewed journal Physical and Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics and non-peer reviewed OT Practice and ADVANCE for OT practitioners.
