University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences’ Student Hiral Khatri Presented the Prestigious Outstanding Student Award from the Occupational Therapy Association of California

 San Marcos, CA, November 8, 2017 – The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS), a leading graduate institution that emphasizes health and rehabilitative sciences education through innovative classroom education, is proud to announce that Hiral Khatri, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy student from San Jose, CA, has been awarded this year’s prestigious, Outstanding Student Award by the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC).

Khatri joined OTAC two years ago and began volunteering – including working with the student, advocacy, and communications committees – and eventually found a role as social media coordinator. Khatri manages OTAC’s social media posts and is the founder, host, and coordinator of #OTACHour, a Twitter chat held every fourth Friday of the month. She also volunteers during OTAC conferences and symposiums and has begun to work with OTAC leadership to organize legislative meetings and other advocacy events.

The Outstanding Student Award recognizes an OTAC student member who has made significant contribution in OT in the areas of scholarship, organizational activities, community service, and advocacy. Khatri was nominated by OTAC colleagues and committee leaders and the award was recently presented at the OTAC 2017 Annual Conference in Sacramento, California.
