Terry K. Crowe
Dr. Terry K. Crowe is the Founding Director and a Professor in the Occupational Therapy Graduate Program at the University of New Mexico (UNM). She has been a faculty member at UNM since 1992 and was a faculty member at the University of Washington from 1979 to 1992. Dr. Crowe is an occupational therapy educator who teaches in the areas of community health, advocacy, leadership and problem-based learning.
Since 1994 she has also been the Occupational Therapy Core Faculty Member and Research Coordinator for an interprofessional federal grant in New Mexico (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities – LEND). Dr. Crowe is a prolific researcher with 71 articles in peer-reviewed professional journals and 83 articles in non-peer reviewed publications. Her areas of research include family-centered care, time use, pediatric assessment, cultural issues and service dogs.
Throughout her occupational therapy career, Dr. Crowe has been involved in international occupational therapy. She has taught and/or practiced in 7 countries (Argentina, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Latvia, Mexico, Thailand, and Turkey). She recently completed Fulbrights in Latvia and Turkey, working with occupational therapy faculty on curriculum development, active teaching methods and research productivity.
She serves on 4 editorial boards for peer-reviewed professional occupational therapy journals. Dr. Crowe has served on multiple local, state, national and international boards including the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (U.S. Delegate), American Occupational Therapy Association, and the Academy of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology.
