University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and Johns Hopkins Health Care and Surgery Center Team Up to Offer Exercise Strategies Seminar May 21-22 in Baltimore

Physical and occupational therapists and athletic trainers in outpatient orthopaedic settings can earn 1.5 continuing education units (CEUs)

Seminar will be taught by Towson University alumnus Dr. Eric Chaconas

Baltimore, MD – May 18, 2016 โ€” The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS), a leading graduate institution thatย emphasizes rehabilitative and health science education through innovative classroom and distance education, has teamed up with Johns Hopkins continuing education to offer a continuing professional education seminar, Exercise Strategies and Progression for Musculoskeletal Dysfunction, at the Johns Hopkins Health Care and Surgery Center in White Marsh, Md. on Saturday, May 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information and to register for this seminar visit www.cpe.usa.edu or call 800.241.1027.

This two-day, face-to-face seminar provides 1.5 continuing education units (CEUs) for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and athletic trainers who treat patients in an outpatient orthopaedic setting. It covers treatment strategies for a range of patient issues from low back pain to total knee replacement, shoulder instability and sports conditions.

This seminar is taught by Eric Chaconas, PT, DPT, PhD, MTC, CSCS, FAAOMPT, assistant program director for the Department of Physical Therapy on the USAHS St. Augustine campus and 2002 Towson University alumnus. He is certified in manual physical therapy and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. His research and clinical practice focuses on orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation.

Eric Chaconas, PT, PhD - Assistance Professor, Doctor of Physical Therapy ProgramAbout Eric Chaconas, PT, DPT, PhD, MTC, CSCS, FAAOMPT:

Dr. Chaconas earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Towson University in 2002 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2005. He completed the Manual Therapy Certification program through the University in 2006, Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship in 2008 and earned his PhD from Nova Southeastern University in 2015. Currently Dr. Chaconas teaches full time in the entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University and holds the position of Assistant Program Director. His research interests include the conservative management of musculoskeletal impairments with a special emphasis on tendinopathy and shoulder disorders
