What Is Pro Bono Therapy?

What Is Pro Bono Therapy?

Pro bono therapy is no-cost treatment that benefits both the patient and the student. We offer pro bono clinical services to members of the communities in which our five campuses are located. The provision of pro bono therapy allows us to utilize the skills of our healthcare professionals and students to deliver restorative healthcare to members of our communities who need it the most.

Our Pro Bono Clinics are fundamental to our efforts to give back to the communities in which we operate, and align with our B Corp values. We believe that providing pro bono services to underserved community members is not just a benefit but an obligation for the well-being of society.

Student Benefits

Student Benefits

When you participate in one of our Pro Bono Clinics, you’ll have the opportunity to provide valuable services to community members, including evaluations and treatment, all under the close supervision of experienced faculty and staff. You’ll work alongside students and faculty from other disciplines, developing respect and interprofessional understanding of each other’s contributions as well as invaluable communication skills and learning opportunities.

Students have shared that they became more clinically confident. Having instructors available to provide feedback and assistance on a one-on-one basis is one of the most valuable aspects of students’ pro bono clinical experiences.

Did you know?

USAHS students, faculty and staff members and their families are eligible to receive treatment at any of our Pro Bono Clinics as a benefit of attending or working for the university!

Student Testimonials

“The experience was amazing. To see what the OT had to offer in terms of adaptive equipment. PT might tend to order braces—but this patient didn’t have money. OTs get a little more creative. You don’t realize how much the two fields are related. They play off each other. Now I’m more comfortable and confident working with people with prostheses.”

“The Pro Bono Clinic reaffirms my interest in becoming a neurological PT. Although I did not have the opportunity to work with a patient in this population, it helped me to see that MSK skills are needed no matter what career path I choose to pursue.”
