Spinal Manipulation Courses for Physical Therapists Now Scheduled (2.6 CEUs)

Seminar emphasizes interpretation of basic science knowledge toward the development of clinical skills needed for differential evaluation and effective treatment of spinal dysfunction

San Marcos, CA– April 11, 2017 – The University of St. Augustine Health Sciences (USAHS), a leading graduate institution that emphasizes health science education through innovative classroom education, is pleased to announce that the institution will present the “Spinal Evaluation & Manipulation” seminar for physical therapists looking for continuing education units, at multiple locations throughout the U.S. These three-day seminars will explore basic science knowledge toward the development of clinical skills needed for differential evaluation and effective treatment of spinal dysfunction.

The seminar will include instruction and techniques of evaluating structure, active movements and palpation for condition, position and mobility of the spine. Manipulation techniques are instructed at all levels of the spine except the sub cranial area. Supportive treatments, such as exercises and distraction, will be instructed and practiced to a limited degree. At the conclusion of the seminar, students should feel confident when examining and treating most common spinal conditions.

Learning objectives include:

  • Conducting a comprehensive physical examination of the spine
  • Describing the mechanisms and characteristics of spinal pain and the behavior of pain patients
  • Safely perform basic spinal manipulation techniques
  • Observing, performing and demonstrating safe thrust techniques on thoracic and lumbar spine
  • Discussing and presenting cases with spinal dysfunction
  • Describing the indication and contraindications of spinal manipulation
  • Demonstrating and appreciating the role of therapeutic exercise and preventative measures in the management of spinal dysfunction

The Spinal Evaluation & Manipulation seminar will be offered on the following dates and locations. All seminars will run from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
