chuck-kimmel-athletic-trainingChuck Kimmel, LAT, ATC, a contributing faculty member in the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) Master of Health Science (MHS) program, will receive the prestigious Eve Becker-Doyle Leadership Award at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) conference in June in New Orleans.

The award is given annually to a single NATA member who has demonstrated a lifetime of leadership. It is “the highest honor given to a NATA member specifically for outstanding leadership and volunteerism within the NATA” and requires at least 40 years of NATA membership.

Kimmel teaches Leadership in Athletic Training for the USAHS online master’s in Athletic Training program. He shares leadership lessons from serving as NATA president, secretary/treasurer, district director, and committee chair, as well as director of the Injury Clinic at Appalachian State University. He has also received NATA’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award and has a NATA scholarship named for him.

“Chuck Kimmel is one of the most respected leaders in the profession, and we are proud that he is sharing his leadership experience with our graduate athletic training students,” said Jordan Utley, PhD, LAT, ATC, MHS, program director. “Our faculty are practitioners who share their experiences as athletic trainers in the Olympics, extreme sports, and college and professional sports, including the NFL and Major League Baseball.”
