Dr. Kunal Bhanot, PT, PhD Selected as Reviewer for FSBPT’s ProCert program
Dr. Bhanot will receive training to evaluate continuing competence activities and to award certification for those that meet the FSBPT Standards of Continuing Competence. He is very excited about this opportunity to serve the profession!
Governor Abbott Appoints Dr. Tony Domenech to Texas Board Of Physical Therapy Examiners
USAHS DPT Program Director at the Austin campus, Dr. Manuel A. “Tony” Domenech, Ed.D., D.P.T. was one of those four and will play an active role in licensing and regulating the practice of physical therapy.
“It’s an honor to be part of the mission to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Texas through the regulation and enforcement of the practice of physical therapy and of occupational therapy. I’ll hold faithfully to the highest standards of ethics, accountability, efficiency, and openness as I take on this role. Likewise, I value the importance of working with the members of the Board to license and regulate consistently, fairly, and sensibly,” Dr. Domenech said.

USAHS had an impactful presence at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) in San Antonio, Texas in 2019!
• The entire CICP team attended (Elisabeth McGee, Dawn Zwart, Mechelle Roy, and Krys Bieniek)
• Kayla Collins and Kelly Layne presented an IPE poster session and a disco session
• Norman Belleza, Maureen Johnson, and Nicole Rodriguez presented during a disco session. The presentation was called Using the Backwards Design Process to Integrate Interprofessional Education Utilizing Simulation in OT and PT Educational Curricula
• Elisabeth McGee, Vice Chair of the SSH section of the Florida Affinity Group, co-presented the Vision for 2019 during the Florida Healthcare Simulation Alliance Special Interest Group session
Dr. Julie Evener Receives Frank Dilley Award from Walden University
Dr. Evener, Director of Library Services and a 2019 Doctor of Education (EdD) graduate from St. Augustine, received the Frank Dilley Award at the Walden University commencement ceremony for her doctoral study, Organizational Learning in Libraries at For-Profit Colleges and Universities.This award is bestowed upon a Walden student whose doctoral study is judged as meeting the highest standards of academic excellence. Congrats, Dr. Evener!
Dr. Thomas Werner Selected for High School Alumni Hall of Fame
“The purpose of the Alumni Hall of Fame is to provide inspirational role models to students through recognition of past alumni while promoting a legacy of community pride,” the award letter said.
Dr. Werner is invited to the National Honor Society ceremony at the school where his accomplishments will be highlighted and he will have the opportunity to speak with students.
American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s MSN Annual Conference
Robin Dennison and Amy Herrington attended the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Master of Science in Nursing Annual Conference last week in Tampa. Dr. Dennison had served on the planning committee for the conference and Dr. Herrington was selected to present a poster session on Interprofessional Education.
