Myofascial trigger points are a common feature of nearly all muscle pain syndromes and are often misdiagnosed and/or under‐diagnosed. They are characterized by persistent local and referred pain, loss of function and movement impairments. Treatment may include manual therapy techniques, dry needling/injections, correcting biomechanical and postural dysfunction, and restoring normal movement patterns.
