Dr. Jennifer Lyng is a physical therapist and educator with a passion for both clinical practice and student development. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology from SUNY Brockport and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Upstate Medical University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education, with a focus on strengthening her work in teaching and academic leadership.
Her professional interests include preparing students for clinical education and improving the quality of clinical learning experiences. Her research explores the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors students need to succeed in clinical settings, with an emphasis on supporting a smooth transition from the classroom to patient care. She is especially interested in strengthening collaboration between academic programs and clinical partners to enhance student outcomes.
Dr. Lyng’s clinical background is in orthopedics and sports medicine, where she developed a patient-centered approach grounded in evidence-based practice. She brings this real-world perspective into her teaching, helping students connect foundational knowledge to clinical application.
As an educator, Dr. Lyng values creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages professionalism, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. She is committed to mentoring students as they grow into confident and compassionate physical therapists who are prepared to work with diverse patient populations.
