Dr. Cortney Charlesworth earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Georgia and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of North Georgia. After earning her DPT degree, she completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency in Houston, Texas. She is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy.
Dr. Charlesworth has 10 years of experience in sports medicine and outpatient orthopedic practice, treating high school, collegiate and professional athletes, with an emphasis on post-operative rehabilitation. She also has extensive experience working in Performing Arts Medicine, working with collegiate ballet dancers, as well as providing backstage care for touring Broadway shows. She also serves in the volunteer medical pool for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association and has traveled internationally providing care for Olympic and Paralympic winter athletes. She also enjoys treating runners and triathletes. In the clinic, Dr. Charlesworth has served as a clinical instructor for DPT students, taught within a Sports Physical Therapy residency program, and mentored fellows in training.
Dr. Charlesworth is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Physical Therapy at Texas Woman’s University with a research focus on the role of sleep in determining athletic performance in endurance athletes.
