Dr. Michael Valenti is a seasoned registered nurse and professor with expertise in mental health and substance use disorders, health administration and healthcare higher education. His career is driven by a passion for improving access to high-quality integrated healthcare for vulnerable populations.

Dr. Valenti’s academic journey includes earning his Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Research and Theory Development from New York University in 2016, complemented by a Post Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Eastern Kentucky University in 2022. Additionally, he is certified in Competency-Based Training for Suicide Prevention and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Throughout his career, Dr. Valenti has held key leadership positions, including chief nursing officer, and has served as nursing faculty in various higher education institutions. Notably, during his time at the University of Central Florida (UCF), he founded the Clinical Academic Research Partnership  for Behavioral Health and was honored with the UCF Quality Award for his innovative contributions to geriatric nursing education.

Dr. Valenti’s clinical expertise encompasses psychiatric crisis stabilization for adults and geriatrics, reflecting his dedication to providing compassionate and comprehensive care. His commitment to advancing the nursing field is further evidenced by his publication record, with contributions to numerous academic journals.

Dr. Valenti joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2022 as a contributing faculty member and transitioned to his current role in March 2024.
