Dr. Grzina, who joined the University in April 2024, has worked in pediatric medical settings, including the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, acute care and outpatient, and has served on cleft and craniofacial anomalies teams. She has specialized in working with infants and children with feeding and swallowing disorders, cleft lip and palate, childhood apraxia of speech and phonological disorders. She is passionate about preparing future speech-language pathologists to serve as clinicians within these practice areas, emphasizing interprofessional education and interprofessional practice.

Since 2018, Dr. Grzina has instructed undergraduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, covering introduction to communication disorders and phonetics, as well as graduate courses in speech-language pathology, such as research and evidence-based methods, speech sound disorder and dysphagia. She has also supervised students participating in on-campus and community clinical experiences.

Dr. Sara Grzina received her Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She then earned her Doctor of Education in Health Professions from A.T. Still University.
