Blended Learning – Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Program at USAHS
Students in the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) complete coursework online, coming to campus for hands-on skills training. This blended model allows students to earn their degree without relocating, while still gaining the in-person clinical training essential to becoming a strong clinician.
Students appreciate the flexibility and autonomy the format provides, balancing coursework around their schedules while still getting valuable face-to-face time with faculty and classmates during on-campus residencies and in-person externship placements. That in-person time, paired with online coursework, allows students to directly apply the clinical skills they’ve been building.
This blended learning approach reflects USAHS’s broader commitment to flexible, accessible education that doesn’t compromise on the hands-on clinical training SLP students need to succeed.

[00:00:00] Abigail H. (SLP Student): I chose this program because of the hybrid aspects. [00:00:04] Meghan Savage (SLP Programs): The coursework is done online, and then students come to campus four out of the five trimesters for hands-on skills training. [00:00:11] Halah Alateeq (SLP Faculty): They complete the program from the luxury of their home without having to relocate. I wanted to be able to learn online, but still get some of that hands-on experience. [00:00:20] Abigail H. (SLP Student): I don’t have to move. [00:00:22] La’Qunita T. (SLP Student): I get to take my courses at home. [00:00:24] Kayla W. (SLP Student): And have our externship placements in person, as well as coming to campus for residencies and doing all sorts of hands-on learning from our professors. And interacting with my cohort has been amazing. [00:00:35] Jonathan G. (SLP Student): You have a lot of autonomy with your scheduling. [00:00:37] Laura Finkel (SLP Faculty): You’re getting time face-to-face with your cohort, with your faculty, and this time allows you to really apply those clinical skills that you’re learning online. [00:00:47] Abigail H. (SLP Student): And it’s been really nice to implement the skills that we’ve been learning, to put it all into play.
