St. Augustine, FL—April 21, 2015—Nearly 100 graduates from 27 states, the Bahamas, Bahrain, Canada and the Philippines celebrated their commencement from the Florida campus of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences on April 17. Family and friends joined them as they received Doctor of Physical Therapy or Master of Occupational Therapy degrees or celebrated the completion of the Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship or Clinical Orthopaedic Residency Program.
“Our focus on professionalism, teaching hands-on, clinically focused skills, and strong decision-making have helped prepare our graduates for success in careers where they can make an important difference in people’s lives,” said Dr. Wanda Nitsch, president and chief academic officer, who presided over the event.
The university granted several awards to graduates who embodied their program’s mission with attributes including professionalism, clinical reasoning, ethical standards and commitment to professional growth:
- The Stanley V. Paris and Catherine E. Patla Award for Excellence in Manual Therapy: Robert Canale Jr.
- Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Award: Robert Canale Jr.
- Outstanding Occupational Therapy Student Award: Andrew Castellano
- The Karen S. Howell Scholastic Achievement Award (occupational therapy): Megan Novia
- Ray Patterson Scholastic Achievement Award (physical therapy): Crystle Campbell
