University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences to Host Start Moving, Start Living Panel Discussion and Documentary Screening

This joint event with Movement is Life is open to health, medical and rehabilitative professionals and educators interested in discussing and learning more about promoting physical mobility among diverse groups of patients

San Marcos, January 24, 2017 — The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) a leading graduate institution that emphasizes health and rehabilitative sciences education through innovative classroom education, in conjunction with Movement is Life, will hold a documentary screening and panel discussion titled, “Start Moving, Start Living.”

“Movement is Life is a multi-disciplinary coalition seeking to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in muscle and joint health by promoting physical mobility to improve quality of life among women, African Americans and Hispanics,” said Dr. Wanda Nitsch, president and chief academic officer, USAHS. “Here at our USAHS campus in San Marcos, our goal is to highlight and address the issues related to our minority populations in San Diego County with regard to prevention of chronic disease and orthopedic issues.”

The event, which will feature a documentary screening, panel discussion and dinner and refreshments, will take place on Thursday, February 2 at 6 p.m. at Green Gables, located at 134 Woodland Parkway in San Marcos.

Panelists will include:

  • Ramon L Jimenez, MD. President, American Association Latino Orthopedic Surgeons and USAHS Board Member
  • Kathleen Elgas OTR/L. Faculty, USAHS
  • Christopher Ingstad PT, OCS. Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical therapists
  • Christina Holub PhD. Faculty, Masters of Public Health program, California State University, San Marcos
