Dr. Nancy Hellman earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in 1990. In 2005 she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Boston University. She completed her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at Russell Sage College in 2022. Her research centered on graduate students’ perception of their persistence to degree completion.

Dr. Hellman practiced full time for more than 20 years, with her favorite settings being early intervention (birth to three years old) and acute care in the hospital setting. After joining the education field, she continued working part time in early intervention. Dr. Hellman has mentored physical therapy students throughout her career.

As a certified clinical instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association, Dr. Hellman’s experience includes being the Director of Clinical for more than five years at a small private college in upstate New York. Her continuing research interests include DPT students’ mental health and interprofessional education in the clinical education setting.

Dr. Hellman joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2022.
